Illusion Mastery Variant Question [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm trying to understand the illusion mastery variant.

The easy part is the master mechanic itself. So I no longer need a spellbook for preparing illusion spells. Got it.. No problem.

And the negative effect is also easy to handle. I'm specialized as an illusionist already so I get one extra prepared spell per spell level each day, but due to Illusion Mastery, just forget about those extra spells. Got that too, easy to understand.

However, the other part is a little harder to nail down.
Each level gain in which I gain access to a new spell level, I automatically add two new illusion spells to my spellbook.

How does this work exactly?

Firstly we know that when an illusionist gains a level, the illusionist automatically adds two new spells to her spell book, and because the illusionist is specalized (illusion) one of those spells must be an illusion spell.

Now add on this illusion mastery variant. What happens to automatic spell gains when leveling?

Do they stack?
* Each level gain an illusionist gains two spells, one must be illusion.
* With Illusion Mastery, if that level gain granted access to another spell level, add two more more illusion spells
* Total: 3 illusion spells and one other spell

Do they not stack?
* Each level gain, an illusionist gains two spells, one must be illusion.
* With Illusion Mastery, of that level gain granted access to another spell level, you still gain two spells automatically but both must be illusion.

I think there's not going to be enough illusion spells in the book to cover 1 illusion each level and 3 each spell gaining level. But we'll see.

Is there a place that lists spell summaries (and schools) for all books?
Don't need the actual description.
If its interesting enough, I'll go find a complete reference.

Some books are OGC but aren't in the SRD yet for example.
