Hello

In my game, we use this rule to calculate IL:
Every Full BAB (Prestige) class adds 3/4 of its level to IL, as opposed to 1/2. Some 3/4 BAB (Prestige) classes also do this, if their fluff justifies it. This includes Psychic Warrior, Monk, Swordsage, some clerics from martial deities, Sohei and Soulknives. Of course, PrC's that would add full level to IL, keep doing this.

Do you foresee balance issues with this? We're trying to simulate that a Fighter has an easier time getting the hang of the Nine Ways than a wizard who has never touched a blade in his life. :)

the biggest issue I see with it is that it makes the calculations harder.

My Lv 4 Swordsage / Lv2 Fighter / Lv1 Warblade / Lv1 Barbarian / Lv2 Scout has what initatior level(s)?

I don't see it being unbalancing, I just don't see it as being worth the complication

His SS IL would be: 4 (SS) + 3 (Lvl 2 Ftr, Lvl 1 Barb, Lvl 1 War = 4 levels of 3/4 IL classes) + 1 (1/2 of Lvl 2 scout) = 8 IL for SS.

WB: IL 7. (1 from Warblade, 3/4 of Lvl 4 SS, Lvl 2 Ftr, Lvl 1 Barb, 1/2 of Lvl 2 scout)

I do remember it correctly that it is required to track your IL for different adepts individually, right?
I don't see it being terribly more difficult.

Not difficult, just not as straightforwrd as 1/2 everything

I'll give you that. To my players, it feels too wrong that a wizard level contributes as much to the understanding of the Nine Ways as a Fighter level. :)

It would be easier if you said that non-initiator classes add half of their BAB to initiator level? Then a lvl 20 fighter would have initiator level 10, lvl 20 rogue would have initiator level 7 and the pesky wizard would have initiator level of 5.

Problem is that this would put, for example, the Psychic Warrior behind the fighter or ranger, which isn't the purpose at all.

Count them as full BAB for this purpose only?

Even then, I don't see how that makes things any easier to calculate. We're back to our 3/4. :)

I don't see anything wrong with it: all these calculations are done out of game session anyway (barring energy dmg/drain).
