I've searched the boards, and have yet to see anyone mention this, so I must ask...

Am I the only one who has noticed the humor in the illustration on page 172? It depicts two Orcs cowering before a Halfling who wields a "uniquely" styled short-sword that radiates blue light.

Does anyone else note the rather strong resemblence to certain item, in a recent movie trilogy, based on a rather well-known series of books?

Yes, of course! It does look like Harry Potter's sword, and-- oh, you mean Sting. Yes, I noticed that too... Course, said Halfling is far from a Hobbit, said Orcs aren't as ugly as the LotR Orcs that I've seen, and of course, the line that runs up the blade isn't "wavy" like that of Sting. But overall, yeah, incredible resemblence to Frodo, Sting and Orcs.

It was mentioned several times before the book even came out, back when the art gallery was put up for the book.

Y'know... I was going to put a disclaimer about it not being a Harry Potter reference, but I thought "No, they won't do that." I should've known better. :)

I thought it was Luke Skywalker showing his lightsaber to Gamorreans...

Or perhaps it's in fact Drizzt and Twinkle... only with him being really short... and not as Drow-y. :P

But really, you have to think, was Sting even an Item Familiar, let alone an intelligent item?

Eh, any artist will run out of good ideas eventually and steal something from bad movies.

Also, the first paragraph in the Taint description references the same set of movies/books.
