| AT-AT Assault05-25-06, 03:13 PM | UA was designed with 3.5 in mind. However since its a book of variant and optional rules, it is technically of no edition, since it could be used with either edition. I myself didnt see anything that seemed to reference 3.0 rules(for example the Ranger variants are based off the 3.5 Ranger). Because its not a 'set-in-stone-these-rules-are-meant-to-supersede-previous-rules' book, it doesnt matter what edition you are using. |

The new Unearthed Arcana was published February 2004, well after 3.5e Player's Handbook (July 2003). As for the "supersede" statement, UA is nothing more than a big book of variant rules. If you want to supersede a mechanics from the core rules with something you like from UA -- like replacing HP with VP/WP -- that's the DM's prerogative. |

| Millennium05-25-06, 04:01 PM | Technically, UA is 3.5. However, most of the variants could be brought to 3.0 straight across, and even the ones that would need a little tweaking wouldn't need all that much. |
| twelvedrunkenmonkeyz05-25-06, 04:03 PM | Well I figured as much because there are a ton of question from the 3.5 FAQ that reference the book. That's why I assumed it was 3.5v, I guess that's what I get for assuming stuff. Personally I think UA is on par with 3.0 and that some of its stuff is very over powering. I do however like the Spell-touched feats, I thought they where pretty kewl, and very flavorful. But the Battle Caster just seems a little over the top to me. Maybe a few other variants as well. I mean I could be wrong however, and I will try it out later to find out. But anyways thanks you guys. Peace. |

In fact, you can't: several of the variant systems clash pretty wildly with one another. The book is designed so that you can use only the parts you want. |
