Beginning characters are starting at 19th level. I have unearthed arcana and didn't really see this issue addressed. How do I have this character buy back the +2? |
| gbnogkfs02-15-05, 11:57 AM | by that level (19), had you started at 1st level, an LA+2 character would be on par with the others, with about the same XP... the burdens of LA are suffered at the beginning, but tend to desappear with levels; of course if you already start at high level, the problem is that no actual burden has been suffered by the character. try with eliminating the LA and see how much the character is more powerful compared to the other, and then assign an initial XP penalty (probably not more that 1 full level) based on that. eventually, in a couple of levels the initial penalty will be eliminated by itself because of the experience assignment rules. |
| cheatlord02-15-05, 12:28 PM | Basically, you remove 7000xp at CL6 and another 9000xp at CL9. Then the LA would have been paid. Keep in mind that a lower level character makes slightly more xp. So a level 19 PC has 171000 xp. If you remove 16000 xp you get 155000 xp. Of course, this is the bare minimum the player would have and no more than 171000. So a +2 LA that did buy his levels would be at level 18, about 25% done towards level 19. There isn't much difference at these levels. |
