Instead of having Scions for only weapons, couldn't you have scion classes for all sorts of legendary items, like rings, amulets, etc. I am thinking of the "One Ring" from LOTR inparticular as an example.

What do you think.

Sure you could definitely do that. I think they started with weapons as they are frequently an important part of the game. The Game Mechanics, who originally wrote up legendary weapons and teh scion classes in d20, have actually put out 2 pdfs "Swords of Our Fathers" and "Staves of Ascendance". The former is the source of much of the info used in UA (I'm not sure about the weapons themselves, I haven't read Swords in a while) and the latter covers staves and rods. You may want to look into those if you want more examples of legendary items.

I think I'd avoid scions for weaker items like scrolls, potions and wands, but rings, armor and many other permanent items could be very interesting.
