FSCJedi 05-18-04, 02:48 PM	Who uses them? The creation process, in my mind, is pretty vague in UA. What are some of the weapons you have used, and what scion class are they tied to? Has anyone made any better guidelines for creating a legendary weapon? Just wondering. I'm interested to see what you all have come up with.
Shadowslayer 05-18-04, 04:08 PM	Here's one that we've recently put together in my campaign. It's not been playtested yet, since its only recently entered the game. Note that it borrows some elements from legendary weapons already in UA (notably the Hammer of All Souls), and understand that it's granted abilities are tied in with it's original owner and his combat style. It is slightly weaker than other legendary weapons I've seen - evident in an enhancement bonus that maxes out at +4 and no granted ability at "0 level". Here it is: Vallaenthros Heirloom of the Slater family of Stolhan, the flail Vallaenthros is of Rhodani make. A finely designed and crafted weapon; it was originally wielded by Dehai Nurand, one of the fabled Forgotten of the era of the Rhodani’s flight; a contemporary of Mohor the Mended and Rhilon K’ntar. Dehai Nurand found his fate at the hands of Krego the Cold in the heart of what is now known as the Feral Lands. The Astelgroth Rhilon K’ntar avenged his soul – giving his own life in the deed, and Mohor - who found the battleground after, reclaimed Vallaenthros. Mohor delivered the weapon to a party of Rhodani emigrants with the charge to find and deliver it to Dehai’s family in the new realm of the Rhodan. The charge was accepted, though it took nearly a decade before Vallaenthros finally found its way into the hands of Dehai’s daughter, who had settled in the Khedhremach, joining the ranks of the People of the Dust. Over the generations, Vallaenthros was wielded by Dehai’s posterity, but knowledge of its history dwindled. After the marriage of a daughter of the Hava of Nurand to a noble Kailan youth, Vallaenthros made the journey west again as a dowry, to rest in the Slater household of Stolhan. There it was inherited by Shivan Slater, a half-son of the Hava of Nurand, but unaware of the weapon’s legend or powers. Requirements: Any character can wield Vallaenthros as a +1 flail. A battle scion that wields Vallaenthros gains additional special abilities if the character fulfills the following criteria. Race: Elf. Alignment: Any good. Base Attack Bonus: +6. Feats: Improved Sunder, Power Attack. Attributes: Vallaenthros has the following attributes. Hardness/Hit Points: 18/50. Caster Level: 12th. Value: To any character other than a battle scion that meets the above requirements, Vallaenthros appears to be worth as much as a Medium +1 flail (market price 2,308 gp). Abilities Granted by Vallaenthros: 1st: Ignore Hardness, Improved Disarm 2nd: Ancestral Strength +2 3rd: Enhancement Bonus +2 4th: Impact 5th: Ancestral Strength +4 6th: Enhancement Bonus +3 7th: Power Critical 8th: Ancestral Strength +6 9th: Enhancement Bonus +4 10th: Whirlwind AttackSpecial Abilities: Vallaenthros provides a number of special abilities to its wielder, depending on the character’s class level in the battle scion prestige class (see the table below). Initial Abilities: When first acquired, Vallaenthros functions as a +1 heavy flail. Ignore Hardness (Ex): A battle scion that strikes any weapon, shield, or object with Vallaenthros ignores an amount of hardness equal to his battle scion levels. Improved Disarm (Ex): At 1st level a battle scion wielding Vallaenthros gains the benefits of the Improved Disarm feat, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. Ancestral Strength (Su): A battle scion of 2nd level or higher wielding Vallaenthros derives strength from the support of his ancestors, gaining a +2 enhancement bonus to Strength. At 5th level, the bonus increases to +4, and at 8th level to +6. Impact (Ex):Vallaenthros acts as if under an impact enchantment when wielded by a battle scion of 4th level or higher. Power Critical (Ex): A battle scion of 7th level or higher gains the benefits of the Power Critical feat when wielding Vallaenthros. Whirlwind Attack (Ex): At 7th level a battle scion wielding Vallaenthros gains the benefits of the Whirlwind Attack feat, even if he does not meet the prerequisites for the feat.
