| fuzzyrabbitstrikesback08-03-05, 12:20 PM | Has anyone tried the Legendary Weapons variant from UA? I'm really interested in having my character find one, but I don't really like the ones from the book. Has anyone made any weapons, or am I on my own? |
| lostone08-04-05, 07:56 AM | I believe that is effectively what Weapons of Legacy expands on, however I haven't seen the book to confirm that. |
| DragonWatcher08-04-05, 01:29 PM | No, Weapons of Legacy is not the same thing as Legendary Weapons from UA. That said, it is similar, and honestly, I think that it works a bit better, since you aren't required to take a Prestige Class just to unlock the weapon's special abilities. |
| lostone08-04-05, 01:31 PM | Don't you take feats instead or something like that? Or was it burning XP to effectively get a free feat to unlock the weapon? I dunno, I've heard some vague descriptions about it. |
| Voila!09-02-05, 01:53 AM | Basically, the rules of WoL dictate that by performing certain rituals, you can gain greater facility with items of legend. This can involve burning XP and automatically gaining bonus feats related to them, I don't know the specific rules. The rules of UA dictate that learning to use a legendary weapon requires very specific focus, level-based focus. If you gain levels in the right scion class, you can unlock powers of an appropriate legendary item provided you meet its prerequisites. A house rule I came up with to make UA's version more viable is to say that you can trade in legendary weapons of a given class for another and freely gain the new one's abilities at any time, provided you meet the prerequisites. In any case though, I feel that WoL provides a much better system. I thought of altering the scion classes a bit to make them more accomodating to other classes, and even creating a couple more (the ki scion for psionicists and monks, and the heritage scion for samurai, bloodlines, etc.), but that was before WoL. |

It's actually more of a "perform a ceremony at some place, or kill a certain type of enemy," type of ritual, and then you pay your gold (or more accurately, buy (gold) amount of oils and herbs and incenses and use them while you meditate on your ritual) and you get the bonus feat. |
| Voila!09-06-05, 02:41 PM | Well, like I said, I didn't know. |
