| the_blacknight0301-17-08, 10:41 AM | I am thinking about adding a new magical item into my next game. The item that i was thinking about adding is called a Loadstone. I found the stone in an old AD&D book and i thought that it was cool and was looking for some input as to if it will keep the game some what balanced. So the game has to have to be ran on the spell point system not the spells per day system. You also have to have a "force" like take on magic, its everywhere and in everything. What the stones do is it takes the extra magic thats in the area and traps it. (Sorry for not finishing this all at once) thank you for your input so far, ok now were was i thats right, the stones are only found in their raw state and have to be crafted into their magical state. The stone have to be cut and then they have to be enchanted, these are the basic rules that i found. But i had put mine own spin on the stones. I came up with the stones can be both normal and masterwork and that there will be three levels of enchantment, this will give me six different levels of stones and a wider range to work with. The enchantment is what tells you how fast the stone will charge, from 1 or 2 points a week to 1 or 2 points an hour the stones can only take the extra magic in an area so the more magic "force" the faster it can take it in. So if the stone was in the middle of a large field with nothing around it, it might only get a few points a week were as if it was next to a magic school it might get a few points an hour depending on its enchantment. Now the size of the stone tells you how many points it can hold. There are five sizes from tiny to huge. Tiny stone can hold something like 2-3 points were huge stones can hold upwards of 100 points. Tiny and small stones would be found in rings and swords, large at the end of a staff and the huge ones are the size of some ones head and would be left at home for the big stuff. |

I believe they were covered either in one of the planes books or the Arms and Equipment Guide. I remember them being 50 pound Marbles. |
