| DrKultra02-29-04, 11:39 PM | Hmmmm, I have lots fo little questions. Wanted to see if you could answer me. * Do Spell point casters pool their spell points when Multiclassing like Psions do? * Are Flaws too game unbalancing? * When playing Gestalt and making NPC's. If making an NPC with a base creature who has ECL. Should I keep them as they are, Gestalt their Racial HD, or Gestalt the whole ECL? * How do I figure out how to buy off LA bigger than +3? That would be all for now. Thanks in advance. |

Wanted to see if you could answer me. * Do Spell point casters pool their spell points when Multiclassing like Psions do? Nope. You keep the pools seperate just as you do for spell slots. * Are Flaws too game unbalancing? The seem to be fairly balanced, but I haven't actually looked for any tweaks. * When playing Gestalt and making NPC's. If making an NPC with a base creature who has ECL. Should I keep them as they are, Gestalt their Racial HD, or Gestalt the whole ECL? Level Adjustment reflects the fact that many creatures have more powerful abilties than a base-race core-class character with the same HD. However, gestalt classes by definition also grant more abilties than an equivalent level core class. So a creature's LA has to be completely recalculated to balance it for a gestalt campaign. * How do I figure out how to buy off LA bigger than +3? Just follow the maths. +4 LA can first be reduced at character class level 12 (3*4) and costs (ECL-1)*1000. The next LA reduction occured 9 character class levels after that (21), and so forth. Yes, you have to go epic to reduce high LAs. |

While you answered the other questions perfectly, Greyman, I think this one deserves alittle bit of expanding upon. Just about everything to do with LA, ECL and Savage Species/Savage Progressions does have to be re-calculated when it comes to balance in a gestalt game, this is a case where he might as well not bother - DrKultra specificly refered to NPCs, and re-balanceing all that for NPCs, unless they're very important, is rather pointless. Instead, try and go by the CR guide that they left in Arcana Unearthed, and, in general, just make sure that they'e a good challenge for the PCs. Not every NPC has to be perfectly balanced, or even gestalted, just as that make either a) a good enemy, b) a good alley or c) a good person-who-watches-from-the-side-lines. That's all you need. |
