03-22-05, 09:06 AM Perhaps its just because my doctor is adjusting my medication, but I just had a wild idea:

Epic level gestalt game! Starting at level 30! all Wizards books allowed!

The idea is that it'd be so overpowered, trying to squeak out the last bit of brokenness from the system would cause any twink's head to explode.

What do you think? What would you play?

03-22-05, 10:46 AM I wouldn't, because that sort of game is always boring. It degenerates into the most broken form of hack and slashing, and eventually it's just a string of "Hey, let's go kill God!"

I'm not saying Epic can't be fun, but every campaign I've ever seen that starts with the phrase, "Okay, build a 30th level character" turns into the same stupid game.

It degenerates into the most broken form of hack and slashing, and eventually it's just a string of "Hey, let's go kill God!"Followed by the God totally stomping all over the PCs and ending the game...if they are played right, not even high level epic characters should be able to defeat the greater gods.

But, for the purpose of this exercise (I don't have specifics) I'd probably use one side of the gestalt for a high ECL epic monster like winter wight (I don't remember what the ECL on that is) and the other side for a powerful class build to complement it.

Seriously I have never played in an epic game of any kind. But once a character goes epic, does gestalt really matter?

The same way it matters in non-epic, you get more abilities. Although I think in Epic it will give the character far too many abilities to really use them all unless it is a truly optimized build focusing on one thing, then look out cuz the character will be unstoppable when it comes to his speciality.
