| CravesLove09-20-05, 11:35 AM | I was wondering what everyone thought of the way Cure Light Wounds works in the WP/VP system from UA. It seems the portion that is rolled (1d8)is applied to VP, while the +x portion from level is applied to WP. In a game I'm playing in, there is some concern that once WP is completely healed, any additional CLW will be wasting a portion of its capability. Has there been any consensus on whether points 'rollover' from WP into VP, in cases where WP if fully healed but VP is still low? ex. Feddie the Fighter just came out of combat with 2 WP damage, and 20 VP damage. Cassie the Cleric (level 4) casts CLW to heal him - rolling 3 + 4 which would normaly mean she heals Freddie for 3 VP and 4 WP. Now Freddie definitely needs those VP, but he only needs 2 WP. What happens to the 2 WP healing potential remaining? What happens when Cassie casts CLW again? Thanks for any help, Fitz |

So extrapolating from that, my group has ruled that for Cure spells the die roll can only ever apply to Vitality, but the "set" amount applies first to Wounds, with any bleed-over going to Vitality. |

It forces a healer to actually make decisions on when to heal. That's the point of using the system, to get a grittier game. It's intended for low-magic games, the system frees up the cleric to do other things. |
