| waverlyt06-04-07, 03:28 PM | I'm working with the following progression: Fighter1//Rogue1 Fighter2//Rogue2 Ranger1//Rogue3 Ranger2//Monk1 Ranger3//Monk2 Horizon Walker1//Monk3 Horizon Walker2//Monk4 Horizon Walker3//Monk5 Horizon Walker4//Monk6 Horizon Walker5//Monk7 Horizon Walker6//Monk8 Horizon Walker7//Monk9 and wondering how in the world I figure out BAB and saves. So far I've got: Fighter1//Rogue1 BAB: +1, saves (fort/ref/will): +2/+2/+0 Fighter2//Rogue2 BAB: +2, saves: +3/+3/+0 Ranger1//Rogue3 and here's where I start getting confused. would it be BAB: +3, saves: +3/+5/+1? I'm not sure how the interaction of multiclassing and gestalting goes as far as picking the 'better' of the two classes. |

Basically, you have to subtract each total from the previous level's total to get the net gain from each class, and then the character gets the higher net gain for each save. For example, at character level 5, the ranger class grants the character a +1 to fortitude and reflex saves, but the monk's +2 to all saves at first level is better than any of those, so the character only gets the first level monk's bonuses to saves. If the character had taken a level of, say cleric instead of monk, they would have gained a +2 bonus to fortitude and will saves (from cleric), and a +1 bonus to reflex saves (from ranger). |

If it has any other progression, then.... +5 at 5th level, +3/4 BaB for 7 levels, gets you +5 more, for a total of +10 at 12th level (monk has 3/4 BaB, so your progression Can Not be worse than that) Levels 1-3 you have good Reflex & con, levels 4-12 all good saves. So, at third level: CON:+3 REF:+3 WILL:+1 @ 4th level: +4/+4/+3 (+2 boost from first level with a good will save) @12th level: +8/+8/+7 Reflex and Con get +1 every even level, and will every odd level, for as long as you continue progressing in monk or otherwise have all good saves. Silver's version gives out a +2 bump to the appropriate good save(s) every time you get a new class, this is a situation that is even worse in gestalt to use, and generally leads to abusive saves. you shouldn't get that +2 bump more than once per score. |
