Multiclassing Cloistered Cleric with Normal Cleric [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-07-04, 09:41 PM I have a character is currently playing the Cloistered Cleric and was thinking about multiclassing into a regular Cleric.

However this doesn't seem right to me. I can understand Sorcerer and Wizard multiclassed. But those aren't variants of each other; they are totally different classes. Where as Cloistered Cleric is a variant of Cleric. Almost like a 'kit' or something.

So would I be right to assume that you cannot multiclass as a Cloistered Cleric and Cleric?

03-07-04, 10:07 PM I wouldn't allow it. They are already a cleric. You may not the average cleirc, but you are a cleric. You can't multiclass with your own class... otherwise weird things could happen... like someone taking Monk1/Monk1/Monk1/Monk17. It just doesn't work.

03-14-04, 02:54 AM run it like a specialist wizard, they say you can't be a specialist and a norm wizard at the same time. it's the same with a "specialist cleric" and a normal cleric...

Let him. Just remember to keep his spell lists seperate and that his CL's dont stack and that he doesnt add to his "bardic knowledge" from the Cleric levels and...

It almost literally IS like multiclassing SOR/WIZ except both classes are preparation casters. There's also no "balance" reason why you cant MC Spec. WIZ/WIZ. Its even stupid to do so(mechanically at least).

But if you really dont like the idea, show him the Favored Soul from the MiniHB

03-15-04, 02:31 AM As long as we're here, and kind of on a similar topic, should it be able to multi-class the Fighter variant that uses Sneak Attack with the normal Rogue? What about multi-classing both of these with the Thug?

03-15-04, 11:04 AM I would say let them. You're giving up a lot of the benefit from fighter for the sneak attack, and if you really want the good base attack but still want your sneak attack, go ahead and give up all your skill points for it. I'm not quite as sure for the Thug, though. It really is similar to the regular fighter, with more skill points and one less feat. There's really no reason not to go Ftr 2/Thug 18. It's the same thing with +2 Fort save and +2 skill points per level. Based on that I'd say nope. A thug with sneak attack, and a regular fighter, though, I don't see why not.
