| srkingdavy03-07-05, 12:23 AM | Hello, I had an idea for a cross-classing house rule... basically straight cross-classing would be impossible. However, each of the basic classes in the game has a "prestige class" version. The prestige bard, paladin, and ranger are already in Unearthed Arcana... has anyone else done something like this? thanks |

The idea was that any character could start as a lvl 1 noble or commoner. As they advanced, they could enter the Warrior, Expert or Adept classes. After those, they could go into any of the core classes. And from there into the prestige classes. A side effect of this (the main point was to introduce a scaling acquisition of ability), was that people couldn't multiclass just by saying so, they needed certain basic skills associated with the class. Now, it never got playtested, (I have a hard enough time finding players, let alone experienced ones who know the system) so I can't tell you how well it worked, but if you'd like to see some examples of what I did, I can post them. |

"cross-classing" is entirely different. |
