The bloodline rules state that gaining a level in bloodline, while not giving you hit dice, new spells etc. do advance class abilities based on class level. Does this include advancing familiars and animal companions? The wording in the book is kind of vague (read--not mentioning) the subject, and neither does the FAQ, so I was hoping to get a ruling (or at least some thoughts) here.

As it says in Unearthed Arcana:
Include the character's bloodline level when calculating any character ability based on his class levels (such as caster level for spellcasting characters, or Save DCs for characters with special abilities whose DCs are based on class level). The character doesn't gain any abilities, spells known, or spells per day from the addition of his bloodline levels, though - only the calculations of his level-based abilities are affected.
Any ability your character has that uses a calculation based on your class level gains this additional level, as far as I can see this includes, not including the obvious already covered in the text about bloodline levels:
Improved Uncanny Dodge: how high rogue level does a flanker need against you.
Bardic Music: extra uses per day.
Turn or Rebuke Undead: "Unlimited Power"
Animal Companion: "What a huge mouth you have..."
Wild Empathy: "Here kitty. kitty..."
Wild Shape: The duration of it.
Stunning Fist: Extra uses and offcause DC
Wholeness of Body: extra hit points.
Diamond Soul: Higher Spell resistance.
Empty Body: Longer Duaration.
Smite Evil: Extra Damage.
Lay on hands: more healing.
Special Mount: Stronger Ride.
Familiar: Stronger Pet.

Thats my take on it, you could argue with your DM that Bardic Music Tunes,Flurry of Blow, Monk Unarmed Attack Strength, And Monk's AC bonus are also increases, but I would say not so as they are stated in the Table, which would mean that they can be viewed as Class Features.

Thanks. I suspected as much, but wanted a second opinion before powering up my player's animal comp. sigh... I depise animal companions...
