After reviewing armour in general and that of Europe in particular I decided to add something.

Heavy armor
Splint mail 200 gp +6 +0 –7 40% 20 ft. 15 ft. 45 lb.
Banded mail 250 gp +6 +1 –6 35% 20 ft. 15 ft. 35 lb.
Half-plate 600 gp +7 +0 –7 40% 20 ft. 15 ft. 50 lb.
Plate-mail 1,500 gp +8 +1 –6 35% 20 ft. 15 ft. 50 lb.
Full plate 4,000 gp +15 +4 –5 35% 20 ft. 15 ft. 55 lb.

Full plate: The suit includes gauntlets, articulated boot covering, a full helmet, plates covering entire body with chainmail and a thick layer of padding that is worn underneath the armor. Each suit of full plate must be individually made to its owner’s exact measurements by a master armorsmith and is considered masterwork, a captured suit cannot be resized to fit a new owner.

ARMOR PROFICIENCY (Full Plate) [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: Armor Proficiency (light), Armor Proficiency (medium), Armor Proficiency (Heavy)
Benefit: See Armor Proficiency (light).
Normal: See Armor Proficiency (light).
Special: Fighters & paladins automatically have Armor Proficiency (Full Plate) as a bonus feat. They need not select it.

I think this armor is far too good. It gives double the armor bonus, somehow let's you be extremely dextrous and cast spells in it, and has less penalty than normal plate-mail. What the heck is it - a mech suit?

Maybe something more like:
Full Plate
Armor Bonus: +10
Max Dexterity: +1
ACP: -8
ASF: 45%

And make it exotic armor, requiring a feat to be proficient in. Then, compared to normal Plate-Mail, it's maximum bonus is +11 instead of +9, but it also has somewhat more penalty and ASF. Still strictly better, but with a feat required, and a fairly high price (at least 3k) I think it would be balanced.

if it wasn't that good...than why WASTE the feat on it...even if the fighter doesn't have to...I've seen real full-plate before. actually they're quite flexible, i've seen a guy in full-plate do a front handspring (flip) and cartwheels without issue!!! So, i'd say something like this...
Full-Plate
AC = +10
MaxDex = +2 (that just enough for the whirlwind guy to get benefit)
Speed = 20 ft.
cost = 4k
acp = -6
weight = 60lbs (real life measurments)
asf = 30 % (not worth it for a wiz)
:fight!:

the whole point of the low AC bonus (+8) that Full Plate provides is intended to keep balance. If you notice, no armor has a total AC grant more than 9. All light armors equal 9 (AC + Max Dex). that's why light armors and Full Plate are the Best non-magical core armor sets availble bcause they total 9. All the Meduim and the rest of the Heavy armors have a total less than that. The whole point is to keep balance.

Cast spells in it? What are you reading?

Yes, and this will help balance fighters. Good point.

that is what the Creators of DnD meant for the game, for it to be balanced. Think about it... an armor that grants a +10 non-magical bonus to AC, with a Max Dex of +1, with increased ASF and ACP. Why increase the ASF??? Arcane people are NOT going to be wearing his, so why increase that factor?
Just a question...

There are several things that reduce the ASF of armor. For instance, Twilight Mithral Full Plate is easy to cast spells in. The reason I think this armor should have greater ASF is simple consistency. If it is heavier, it should have a greater ACP (at least by 1), greater ASF, and the same or lower max Dex. And if Wizards aren't going to be wearing this, why do you care what the ASF is?

So my logic is this:
Armor Bonus: +10 - this is two more than normal full plate. You are thus spending a feat to get +2 AC, which may even be overpowered given that Dodge gives you only +1 AC and only against a single opponent.

Max Dex: +1 - Same as standard Full Plate.

Armor Check Penalty: -8 - A bit higher than Half-Plate, given how strong this armor is supposed to be, it's got to be a bit more restrictive than Full Plate.

ASF: 45% - For the same reason. Could be 40% or whatever, it should just be higher than normal Full Plate.

Also, I'd like to point out that improved cover, which could be, for instance, only having a tiny part of your body exposed through an arrow slit, only gives you +8 to AC. Therefore, +15 to AC is pretty ridiculous, unless you are saying that the armor is basically a mech suit. This:
Full plate: The suit includes gauntlets, articulated boot covering, a full helmet, plates covering entire body with chainmail and a thick layer of padding that is worn underneath the armor. Each suit of full plate must be individually made to its owner’s exact measurements by a master armorsmith and is considered masterwork, a captured suit cannot be resized to fit a new owner. Is already pretty much what it says about normal Full Plate. In D&D terms, +8 AC is what you get for full body precision articulated protection. Anything more than that requires extensive, and movement limiting, fortification.

I didn't increase it. Maybe typo? Should be same as for plate +8 to AC

Ever stood behind an arrow slit? I gathered that you hadn't. 3-4' high and up to 6'' wide. Hardly tiny. Please do your research.

First, the arrow slit was simply and example. The 3.0 term was "9/10 cover". More importantly is the fact that this new armor is described exactly the same as normal full plate. What makes it twice as good?

I think he means it to be the latter evolution of plate, made during the renaissance, which was made of much higher quality materials and significantly lighter when compared to normal plate (Granted, I read this information in a book like 8 years ago, so i might be a tad bit off)

Anyway, just because someone can pull a cartwheel in plate armor doesn't mean he shouldn't be penalized in his ability to be dextrous. I mean, a +1 max dexterity means that a human could still act significantly more dextrously than a normal human, even while wearing the armor.

Anyway, I think the light-plate could be just Masterwork plate-mail.

As written, utterly overpowered. Read what IceFractal writes.

Yeah, I'm afraid that your armor is bit much. In the "Races of Stone" book there are a few exotic dwarven armors listed. The toughest armor of that bunch has a +10 armor bonus, +0 max Dex bonus, -9 armor check penalty, 60% arcane spell failure and even slows down a dwarf.

Certainly human armors can't be that much better than dwarven craftsmanship. They are the pinnacle of such things aren't they? ;)
