My game has progressively become more and more social interaction oriented, which means that the paladin and the bard have started to dominate any non-combat scenario with their insanely high charisma scores. The party wizard, with her Cha of 10, asked if I would design a feat of some kind that would allow her to use her Int modifier for certain social interactions. I figure the only place where great intellect actually helps is in a debate or logical argument. So, here's my feat:

Intellectual Bully - You are particularly skilled at making sound intellectual arguments.

Benefit - The character may use her Int modifier for Intimidate checks or Bluff and Diplomacy checks dealing with any topic in which she has points in the appropriate Knowledge skill.

What do you think?

Seems reasonable, though it should probably be on the Skills/Feats board. I'd suggest a more strict requirement of 5 ranks in any particular associated Knowledge skill.

So the same requirement for a synergy bonus on the diplomacy check?

I think that is too weak for a feat.

I might suggest just houseruling the synergy bonuses into existance
5 ranks in any single knowledge skill gives a +2 bonus on bluff, diplomacy, and sense motive checks involving that class of knowledge

I think that is too weak for a feat.

Why is that too weak for a feat? My game is heavy on social interaction, so anything that would give a character an advantage in that arena would be very powerful.

I think this feat makes total ingame and out of game sense; however the Cha mod is already Underpowered we dont want to remove more of its good uses. Also remember that a wizard only needs INT for all spellcasting parts; a bard and paladin need Con, Str/Dex, and Wis (Paladin). Be careful that the wizard doesnt load up on INT and permanently steal the limelight in AND out of combat.

We all know wizards are good.

maybe allow the wizard to develop a spell instead? Then there is a gold piece cost and s/he may not have prepared it for the day when it is useful. this is how wizards should be.

Maybe:...

Wizard's Wit
Enchantment[Self]
Level: Sorceror/Wizard 4
Components: S
Casting Time: 1 immediate action
Target: Self
Duration: 1 minute/level

With a simple hand flourish you feel your intelligence granting you insight into the debate.

For the duration of the spell the character may use Intelligence instead of Charisma as the main modifier for all Intimidate, Bluff and Diplomacy checks. Opponents gain no save against this effect when used to better them.

thats only off the top of my head
what level is your campaign?
