So I thought maybe we should think of names for the class variants. Just so if I use all the bard variants, I don't have to call them all "bard" or bard, bardic sage, etc.

Here's what I thought:

Totem Barbarian: Barbarian (because every barbarian chooses a totem, and there is no "normal" barbarian)
Bardic Sage: Sage
Divine Bard: Cantor
Savage Bard: Skald
Cloistered Cleric: Priest*
Druidic Avenger: Avenger
Thug: Thug
Paladin Variants: Paladin (variant depends on paladin's alignment)
Planar Ranger: Ranger (choise between normal ranger, planar ranger, and urban ranger made at 1st level)
Urban Ranger: See above
Wilderness Rogue: Scout
Battle Sorcerer: Warlock*

The ones with * are the ones I'm least happy with.

What names would you suggest for the variants?

Don't forget to add the choice of favored enemy and favored environment.

I kind of like Priest, personally. One alternative name for it though: Clergy

. . . or two: Scholar

. . . three: Philosopher (but I'd save that one for a godless C. cleric possibly)

What everyone else calls the "Avenger," I would prefer as "Hunter." I realize I'm alone on this.

The Thug needs a name change. I can't think of anything, though. I think thug, I think less skillful and more reliant on brute crushing strength power. It just doesn't fit.

Paladin of Slaughter: Anti-Paladin
Paladin of Freedom: Liberator
Paladin of Tyranny: Opressor

How about vagabond?

I like vagabond and scoundrel. Or mercenary, though that's almost as constraining as thug.

I'd call the standard 'fighter' as 'Soldier' and the 'thug' an 'Officer'. Generally it is the Officer in the military who has the better education afterall.
