| Mr. Master04-15-06, 07:29 AM | What do you think about giving the Paladin another daily Smite Evil at 6th level and every 5 levels after that? This means that, each time that a Paladin gets another attack,he also gain another Smite Evil.At epic levels, this would mean 5 chances at 21st level, 6 chances at 26th level and so on. I was thinking about this home rule because of the recently created home rule for rangers (see the topic New Ranger 3.0).In fact, both Paladins and Rangers,IMHO,need something to justify their level progression, apart from saving throws,BAB,spells and cure disease/favoured enemy. The Fighter and the Barbarian would still have their power, but Rangers and Paladins would become more competitive choices. Do you think that this home rule is well balanced? |
| Shadowfax704-16-06, 11:47 AM | Your house rule is balanced since in 3.5 D&D the Paladin gets additional Smite Evils. |
| Xeviat-DM04-16-06, 11:28 PM | As much as I like to let people play the game they want to play, I do have to advocate the 3.5 rules. If all you use them for is the updated core classes, they're much better. PS: And yes, adding those abilities in is perfectly fine. Do it at 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th, just so it is more symmetrical. |
| Mr. Master04-17-06, 07:43 AM | Well,I'd rather give this extra Smite Evil at 6th,11th and 16th level because,in this way,the Paladin will have only 4 Smite Evil chances at 20th level. If I give him extra SE chances at 5th,10th,15th and 20th level,he'll have 5 chances at 20th level and I don't want to improve him so much. |
