| Taeldrin Laesrash03-10-05, 08:07 PM | I plan on playing a Desert Kobold Gestalt Ranger/Rogue. My other players (and DM) don't own UA. I just want to know how to pull of a gestalt with out becoming to strong for the other players. |

With a +2 level adjustment, they're both the same character level. The single classed Wizard has spent a feat for his cohort, and the two have to share equipment out of the same GP pool. But the Gestalt character has to share feats with both of its classes, and only has one turn per turn while the Wizard/Fighter duo has two turns per turn. Technically, I feel the Wizard/Fighter due is a lot stronger. So, in my games, I have Gestalt require a +1 LA until the character reaches level 8, where the LA becomes 2 (to level up to 8, you need the XP of a 9th level character; to reach 9 you need the XP of an 11th level character). |

It is really very important that if one character is using Gestalt, all of them are. I don't like any Gestalt variant that allows mixing, or some levels to use Gestalt and others not to-- it just complicates the equation. If you want a Ranger/Rogue without multiclassing, and noone else is using Gestalt, I'd see if you could talk your DM into allowing you to slow down some of the class features and make a custom class out of it. Ranger and Rogue are relatively close, so your main area of variation would be in class features. |

If someone wants to mix Barbarian/Wizard, I might say something. |
