| hobbit_killer03-04-05, 07:08 PM | Hello all, I am sure this issue has come up before, but I can't seem to find it. I am in the process of developing a campaign world and I was wondering if there was and rtf, pdf, doc, anything I can copy and paste of for the open game content of Unearthed Arcana--mainly because I am lazy and hate typing. Any help would be appreciated. |
| GreyLord03-05-05, 07:02 PM | I didn't think UA was Open Gaming content. |
| Ranger REG03-06-05, 12:28 AM | It is. There is a copy of the Open Gaming License attached near the back of the book. How else could they introduce and adapt the Injury System to D&D, which is derived from the Damage Saving Throw System from Mutants & Masterminds RPG? |
| Morwen03-06-05, 09:39 PM | Not all of it is, but most is. The credits-page lists which of the content is not OGL. The non-OGL content is basically the bloodlines for D&D-specific monsters, like Slaad and Mind Flayers. |
| alexanderwales03-10-05, 01:16 PM | sooo ... if there an online version somewhere? |
| Ranger REG03-11-05, 03:26 AM | Good luck finding them. Somebody tried to start up a group collaboration project, where each individual takes a chapter and try to extract the designated OGC from Unearthed Arcana. The project fell through. |

And here I was hoping that this thread would answer my question in the postitve. Oh well, I should just be glad I didn't post a similar thread and get berated for it. Guess that means I should get to work converting the VP/HP stuff to HTML for my d20 Modern PbP. |
| Dishliquid03-20-05, 07:10 PM | d20srd.org has the racial variants up. Now you can have a jungle gnome fight a snow goblin. |
| Korimyr the Rat03-21-05, 04:04 AM | Much as such a thing would be useful to me, I actually hope it never occurs. Such a project would cut dangerously into the profitability of this book and of any other future such volume-- meaning that we'd get fewer (or no) more books full of OGC rules variants. |
| HailSpork03-21-05, 10:55 AM | I don't think the srd's have cut into the profits of the regular handbooks. |
| Ranger REG03-21-05, 03:07 PM | I don't think the srd's have cut into the profits of the regular handbooks. That's because not every game mechanics, stats, and barebone rules are included in the SRD. You're on your own. I strongly recommend you find a lawyer to ensure you do not violate the OGL when extracting OGC from that book. (I know that this statement would turn many game players off ... unless they're dedicated game designers). |

Such a project would cut dangerously into the profitability of this book and of any other future such volume-- meaning that we'd get fewer (or no) more books full of OGC rules variants. At this point, I don't think it would. Wizards has said in the past that their data shows that the vast, vast majority of sales for a book happen during it's "green" period, the first 90 days after it is released. There was also speculation that the green period has been shortening to be closer to 30 days, but that was just peoples' hunches. Since this book has been out more than a year, it's sales are effectively done (as far as WotC is concerned; distributors and retailers may still have a few copies in circulation). Essentially, anyone who is going to purchase this book already has. -Dave |
