okay....I've been toying what to do with keen weapons and the improved critical feat since i first started using wp/vp....

but....just recently I was a player in a campaign....
and I faught a Nimblewright....

is it just me or are these guys not really appropriate with vp/wp rules...

for those who arent familiar a nimblewrite gets two attacks at +11 doing 2d6+4 with a threat range of 12-20
which means unless you have an AC of higher than 23 it has a 45% chance of scoring a critical threat...and then an average damage of 11...which would then go straight to wounds....so anything with a con less than 12 is likely to die...greater than a 1 in 10 chance...and if not on the first hit, the second will do...

does this seem wrong to anyone else?

other CR 7s just dont measure up....

also doesnt help that we were 2nd level and fighting two of them at once...

edit:
while im at it...

what is the effect of Wounding weapons while using vp/wp?
after all, you cant exactly bleed vitality concidering your not concidered to have been "wounded"....

In Star Wars, the Improved Critical feat raises a threat range by +1 rather than doubling it. It's safe to assume that a keen effect would do the same thing. I do, however, allow Improved Critical and keen to stack, so a character with Improved Critical (longsword) has a threat range of 18-20 with longswords, and 17-20 if his weapon is keen.

As for wounding weapons, my advice is just don't think too much about it (you'd be surprised how often this solves problems people have with the VP/WP system). Sure, you can bleed vitality points -- after all, VPs represent the near misses, scrapes, cuts, and bruises that don't count as major, life-threatening, organ-shocking injuries -- but VP damage can still be considered injury and not just fatigue or loss of stamina.

In the jargon of the game, a hit that does VP damage is still a "hit," and so a wounding weapon still does is 1 point of CON damage on a hit, regardless of whether the damage it dealt was VP or WP damage.

yes...but what to do about the nimblewrights....

Um... lower their attack's threat range? The nimblewright's augmented rapier-hand appears to have a base threat range of 18-20, doubled twice (once for 15-20, and doubled again for a triple threat range of 12-20). Under a VP/WP system, that would be a threat range of 16-20.

also it would probably help if you updated the nimblewright to 3.5 (it's in the update booklet)

I handle the wounding weapons IMC that they always deal 1 Point of Wound Damage, this keeps them rather balanced for +2 IMO
