Paladin????`s [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-19-04, 11:33 AM I just ordered my copy. I was curious about the alternate Paladin classes. I`m not looking for specific details, but do you guys like what WoTC has done to them. Someone told me they don`t have to be LG anymore, is this true?

02-19-04, 11:53 AM They have put in 3 variants one CG Freedom, Tyranny LE and Sloughter CE. The abilities corresponds to the original versions but most things are still same.
I like it though i like the variants in Dragon 310 too.

02-19-04, 11:55 AM UA has rules for holy warriors of CG, LE and CE alignments. They call each one of them "paladins of" and give them abilities similar to the core paladin (paladin of honor).

CG is called a paladin of freedom, LE is a paladin of Tyranny, CE is a paladin of Slaughter. Even aside from the names (which I just don't like at all) I don't like the set up one bit. Bleah.

What I DO like is Green Ronin's Book of the Righteous (http://www.greenronin.com/cgi-bin/product.cgi?prodid=1015). This book has a full cosmology, no wasted space on stating the gods, stacks of prestige classes and the holy warrior base class.

It isn't OGL, so I won't go into it much. The basics are that the holy warrior gets two domains that each give you two abilities at first level and a more powerful ability at 2nd. They get a small spell selection and where paladins just have remove disease these have a slot where you gain a divine gift specific to your god.

It is a fine book. I give it a full five goblin heads on pikes.

02-19-04, 12:05 PM Thanks guys, how exciting a CE Paladin. I can`t wait to recieve my copy of Unearthed Arcana. I`ll definitely have to check out that Green Ronin book and Dragon #310. Is #310 a relatively recent issue? I`m kinda outta the loop, you know growing up and having responsibilities that aren`t RPG related. Life is so unfair sometimes;) .

Book of the Righteous is definatly a good buy. Even if you never run a game using that pantheon (I haven't yet) the side rules, monsters and writing are all quality work.

Shame Green Ronin isn't paying me to be such a shill.
