Does anyone also dislikes the idea of spellcasting Paladins and Rangers? Well, this is something i never liked since the beginning of (A)D&D. I know there is a variant in the CW (Complete Warrior), does anyone uses it and could tell me if its allright?

I developed a variant myself, its very simple, instead of spells, they gain a bonus feat at 7th, 10th, 13th, 16th and 19th level, it must be a Fighter bonus feat or a Wild (for Rangers) or Divine (for Paladins) feat. I dont know if unbalaces the classes in any way, what you guys think?

Kind of makes the Fighter suck in comparison. Though the Pally late levels aren't wonderful, either.

Can Rangers even use Wild feats? They don't get Wild Shape.

If they are playing a wild shape variant (such as the one in UA). But I think that taking a ranger's spellcasting and replacing it with wild shape is a shoddy idea at best; wild shape is profoundly magical.

It is not a new idea. While I have seen several decent non-spellcaster varaints of the ranger (the best one is found here at http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=169174)

I can't recall ever seeing a great nonspellcasting paladin variant.

I have allowed a Paladin to drop spellcasting, Turn Undead and special mount in favor of more feats.

oh.. yeah... iīm not too much into rules details, so Wild feats are magical shapechanging things? So forget what I said, i thought they were more like "wild" stuff, you know, tracking, hunting, and all that Ranger stuff.. hehe.. sorry for that, I do got the books... just never paid attention to details, I read "wild feats" and I concluded what it should be like, didnt even read it exactly since no on ein my groups plays Rangers and/or Druids, never took a look at it.. hehe.. sorry, my mistake. Well, forget what I said then.. instead of Wild Feats, rangers would gain ... uh.. ."wild" feats, feats that have to do with rangers, yeah, thatīs better, instead of making a list, let the players choose something and Iīll say if its allowed or not, better and simpler this way.

So now that thisīs been cleared up, what do yo guys think of my idea? Sounds allright making the Ranger and Pal like that?

i proposed an idea about this very thing a little while back...
Ranger
bonus feat at 3rd, 8th, 13th, & 18th.
favored terrain at 2nd, 9th, & 16th

Paladin
bonus feat at 2nd, 7th, 12th, & 17th
favoried enemy at 4th, 11th, & 18th -limited choices though [undead, ousider evil, chaotic, lawful, abberation, and a few others maybe)

Favored Terrain (works just like favored enemy except its +2 on Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Spot, Survival, and Know (nature) dealing with that terrain type.
Aquatic
Desert
Forest
Hills
Marsh
Mountain
Plains
Underground
