| lupo5857002-18-04, 08:49 AM | I read ove UA very briefly and of the things that might actually get to see some campaign play, the Paragon Classes caught my eye the most. The Human jumped out at me the most, All you fighters and Barbarians out there just got use magic device for the life of your character... I like UA very much and while some of it is just unnecessary power (read: GESTALT), I think that there is a lot of material in there that can add real flavor to a campaign. |
| DJCupboard02-18-04, 10:40 AM | Yeah, and this makes integrating D&D and Monte's AU easier (I know he had something similar on his site, but now we have orcs for the other half of the half-orcs first level ability). In all I'm rather pleased with racial levels, as well. ~DJCupboard~ |
| Lord Arkhaven02-18-04, 02:26 PM | A neat idea I would do is play a Half-Orc with the Half-Orc, Human, and Orc paragon classes. In nine levels you get +6 to Strength, bonus feats, and some other groovy abilities like rage. Heck, who needs character classes! :D |
| stone_dog02-18-04, 02:38 PM | Ecept that Divided Ancestry only lets you take one of orc or human, not both of them. |
| Mutant for Hire02-18-04, 02:55 PM | You can only choose Orc or Human Paragon levels, not both. |
| Lord Arkhaven02-18-04, 03:06 PM | Ahh! Too bad. Human would be the winner then. |
| Buddha the DM02-18-04, 03:53 PM | Originally posted by Lord Arkhaven Ahh! Too bad. Human would be the winner then. Why would Human be the winner then? What would you do if someone in your game wanted to play a more Orcish Half-Orc Paragon..? |
| DarkThoughts2402-18-04, 09:27 PM | human should only be the winner if you we playin a spellcastin class. and if you are playing a spellcaster why would you play a half orc? |

UMD, of course. That and a feat at second level instead of Elf Slayer. And not wasting a feature on No Light Sensitivity. And extra skill points. And maybe your strength is high enough, but you could really use some extra con or something. |
| klyre02-19-04, 03:12 AM | Originally posted by DarkThoughts24 and if you are playing a spellcaster why would you play a half orc? Possibly because you want to play a half-orc spellcaster? Stop thinking in terms of "this race is better for this class" and it will answer your question. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my current Half-Orc Sorcerer, thank you very much. |
| Lord Arkhaven02-19-04, 08:59 AM | I would pick human because it seems clearly more powerful. Humans get a bonus feat, they get to take any skill and make it class, and their ability bonus can go anywhere. Plus they gain caster levels. A half orc frenzied berserker would be nice because you could make use of the spell levels. Perhaps a barbarian/cleric type or other fighting prestige class with a spell advancement. |
| Will Of God02-19-04, 09:51 AM | Has anyone made a pass at a Deep Gnome Paragon progression yet? |
| Dlgood02-19-04, 01:49 PM | I do, however, wish there were an alternate Dwarven Paragon class that fit more into a Cleric build. Perhaps I can convince my DM of that for my Dwarven Cleric Smith. |
