Parry You can deflect an attack once per round using your BAB and your dex mod (if any). When you can make 2 attacks you can parry 2 attacks per round ect. You must make a DC of the Attackers attack role to deflect it, If you make it you take no damage, If you fail it still as to get by your Armor class, If it gets by you take damage as normal. |

| BladeMage_102-05-06, 01:19 PM | This is pretty much the same I was thinking. However, wouldn't players who were near death just sit and parry untill one of their buddies helped them out? I guess that wouldn't unbalance the game too much, eh? |

Once you get up to 1/2 your Con score you are Fatigued. You only need to rest (sit down, no fighting/casting spells/skills) for 1d4 minutes to lose the Fatigued. I also Use Diffence Bonus in UA and have that a armor + to AC becomes DR. |

You need to 'ready an action' and declare from which opponent you want to block the next melee attack, then you make opposed attack rolls. I aslo ruled it gives a -2 to AC against that attack, since you put momentum in the direction of the attack, failing a block gives a higher chance to get hit. I also ruled a specific 'block' action can be made with a shield, using it as an aggressive defense. The same rule applies, but you can attack with your other weapon (TWF rules apply). You also lose the shield bonus to AC if you fail. |
| CaoSlayer02-06-06, 10:19 AM | my favorite parry variation it is to do something similar to the system of the pendragon game. That it is if you have free attacks and someone attacks you, you can use one of your attacks to parry/counter the enemy, both guys does a normal attack roll using their bab and bonuses and the one with the higher result hits and deal damage if beats the flatflooted AC of the enemy. Someone who decides to not give up or have not more attacks uses this normal AC. This way makes fights more interesting since seems a real duel instead of the actual you attack me and then I attack you and also solves the trouble that AC dont scales with levels since you activelly defend yourself with your fighting skill. |

Deflection: If attacked by a melee weapon (either in melee or when thrown) and hit, you may forfeit an attack (including AoO's) and roll touch attack against your opponent at -6. If successful, both sides roll a sunder check (invalid if deflecting a thrown weapon). If the defender’s weapon breaks, the attack hits as if the deflection attempt was never made. If both weapons endure or the attacker’s weapon breaks, the attack is negated. Deflection counts as a regular attack for all purposes and a defender with multiple attacks may choose which attack roll to forfeit for the deflection attempt. Missile attacks and lance charges cannot be deflected, nor can attacks made by creatures 2 size categories plus larger than the defender. |
| Surgo02-08-06, 04:37 PM | So, what's the point of Total Defense with this? |
| weasel fierce02-08-06, 09:39 PM | This is a good idea. Makes combat actually feel a bit more interesting. As for total defense, with this rule, there'd be no point. The total defense rule is there to cover for a flaw in the rules thats been there for 30 years. |
