I think so. Theres lots of domains with lame powers. Are there any resources with alternative domain powers for these domains?

It may depend upon what kind of campaign your in, if you end up in a jungle campaign you'd probably be wishing to be able to force the plant critters back

Although even in a Jungle campaign you're still more likely to come across Animals or Magical Beasts than plants.

The fact that you get to cast Barkskin makes up for any other lameness, IMO. Unless of course you are partied with a druid.

Good point. If you can find a domain with a bad power and bad spells, then go for it- but the one compensates for the other.

A good DM plays to both the strengths and weaknesses of the players' characters, IMHO.

If a fighter takes Cleave as a feat, then the DM needs to throw in a few mooks to cleave, and then a big single baddy that makes Cleave useless.

The same is true for Domain skills. If the cleric has Plants as one of their domains, then the DM needs to remember to throw in some plants from time to time...

Same goes with Favored Enemies, etc.

Just think, with the Plant domain power you can have a horde of plant creatures instead of a horde of undead, or even possibly both

Hmm...

Yellow Musk Creeper... Which book was it in again?

That might actually be a good way to feed my party some disposable minions in case times get tough, especially with care and feeding.
