I was reading the Players Roll All the Dice section of the Unearthed Arcana and I have a question. It only mentions an enemy critting on a natural 1. Adjusting that up for larger threat ranges doesn't seem to be a problem, but I do see a problem.

Does this system give away too much information? I don't mean no fudging and die results, but monster bonuses to hit and npc damage. Thoughts?

It gives up just as much information as when a DM rolls infront of the screen. After several games of rolling behind the screen, I found that I prefer to roll "honestly" and let the dice fall as they may.

I recently started using the Players roll all the dice variant, and I couldn't be happier. It takes some time getting used to, but it does what its suposed to do: keeps the players' attention on the game, even when it isn't their turn.

And yes, you do have to adjust threat ranges for 2's and 3's ... and sometimes even 4's, 5's, and 6's. But it does take work off the DM, which allows them to spend more effort on good tactics and keeping an eye on everything that's going on.

You need your players to be pretty mature for this to work. You need players that are there to actually play the game honestly, people that understand that cheating isn't really fun.

If your players are reasonably experienced with the rules and sufficiently honest, it works just fine.
