Seeing as its late in the evening I'll be brief.

Alot of people have asked about what a gestalt character's level adjustment should be. Its covered in the book by suggesting that DM's raise the challenge rating of the encounters gestalt parties face by 1 or 2. Perhaps gestalt characters would find encounters of Challenge ratings equal to their party level challenging if they didn't receive gold peices as per the character wealth by level table. That is to say that a DM may no longer need to focus on supplying the players with magic items on a continual basis so that they always have an arsenal to match their level.

Rather than making the riches of a the D&D world vanish, I suggest that DMs should place them in harder to reach places. Also, DMs should make most non-adventuring-related money primarily accessable through the use of trade and theft skills and build an economy for their world.

If we follow the wealth by character level chart into high multiple digits eventually the players should collectively own a small moon made out of platinum peices; however, most people aren't going to get to those levels to realise that the table doesn't make a whole lot of sense from an economic standpoint nor do they really care.
