Prestige Wizard [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-01-04, 10:43 PM I'm customizing my campaign so that arcane magic is difficult to come by. I've made Sorcerers so that they use the Madness mechanic from Wheel of Time and are all elementalists. The madness factor makes their public image pretty bad. I'm also going to be using the Divine Bard variant from UA, making them all devoted to one of a couple gods of knowledge.

Wizards though, I don't know what to do yet. I want wizards to be the high learned, cloistered, little contact with the outside world type of mages. Unfortunately, there is no prestige Wizard class in UA, which I think would work well. I plan to make wizardry magic controled by elves, so maybe elf/half-elf as a racial requirement would be good. For skills, Spellcraft and Knowledge (arcana) would be needed. I would like characters to be able to take levels in Wizard at 3rd level, so 6 ranks for those. Then they would have to take levels in a class that has those skills as class skills, or take a feat that makes one of them a class skill.

So I'm stuck. Any ideas?

07-01-04, 11:31 PM A good start would be perhaps the prestige paladin, bard, and ranger, or the advanced classes from d20 Modern.

07-04-04, 04:39 PM If you have access to D20 Modern (or its SRD), the Mage advanced class would be almost perfect for what you want.
