| bolobaby02-20-04, 09:36 PM | It seems to me that critical hits will become much more prevalent using the bell curve system. Your chance of the first roll falling within the threat range is about the same using the modified criticals, so that's not a problem. The problem is with the roll to confirm the critical. Under the bell curve system, you are more likely to confirm the critical because most mid-range rolls result in a hit (in most combats). Doesn't that sound about right? |
| bolobaby02-20-04, 09:40 PM | Also, it puts a lot of emphasis on high AC because the roll maxes at 18 now and that's the only automatic hit. If your AC is high relative to your opponents bonuses to hit, they'll only hit you less than 1/2% of the time - when they roll the 18. Or, the other way around with monsters. Ouch. IMO, this places waaaaaaay too much emphasis on the high-AC build. Now add fighting defensively to the mix and get combats that drag on forever. |
