So, I came up with this idea for my campaign. What if for every five ranks you have in a profession skill, or craft skill you gained a +1 bonus to charisma in all places where you frequently use your profession or craft. For example a level 2 cleric spends the time he's not adventuring making and selling light maces in his home town. He has a rank of 5 in his craft skill for blacksmithing so he gets a +1 in charisma when he's in that area. |

In this case you may want to remember the DM's best friend, and grant such a character a +2 competence bonus on social interaction skills, such as Bluff, Diplomacy, Gather Information, or Intimidate when within their professional circle, almost like a synergy bonus. You might even add a +2 bonus to Perform (oratory) if the character is giving a lecture in their field to those in their professional circle. I would shy away from Handle Animal and Sense Motive, even though they are "social skills." In this way you can provide a bonus to a character that has, say, 5 or more ranks in a certain craft or profession skill that is neither difficult to track or game breaking. At least that is my 2 coppers. ~Rain~ |
