Max Octavious Xavier 05-15-06, 12:16 AM	A friend thought he remembered seeing an alternative casting system in a book (UA maybe). Spontaneous Casting System (My name for it) A Wizards (or Cleric/druid/etc...) spells memorized each day become their spells "known". They can still cast the same number of spells per day from these spells "known" and can change their spells "known" each day. Casting a spell does not remove it from memory. Questions - Is this from some book? - Do you think it could work? - What would you do about Bards/Sor/etc...? - General comments. My Observations -it make sorcerers and certain other classes obselete. -it makes spell casters more flexible and therefore more powerful.
Vapthorne 05-15-06, 01:27 AM	I think what you're planning is similar to the Spirit Shaman for CD. If you can get access to that book, it's worth a look. UA has something similar under the spell point system. I think it'll work fine, and I prefer it over the traditional vatican system. However, it still does make the sorcerer obselete; it'll only hurt the bard a little. Personally, if I were to use this option; I'd just drop the just sorcerer class. Instead, I'd allow the option for wizards to be either intelligent or charisma-based casters. Maybe the charismatic wizards can have the sorcerer's skill sets. But the classic sorcerer would have no incentive againsty a spontanous wizard.
AvaronGansdell 05-15-06, 01:28 AM	THis is roughly how it works in the world of warcraft D20 RPG. with the slight change that both Arcanists (wizards/mages) and Healers (priests, druids, shamans) actualy have to learn there spells from some sorce rather than just knowing them. they also get to memorize many more spells than D&D characters would but still has the same limits on casting per day spontainusly.
