I'm going to attempt to start this thread here first, since it is more of a House Rule issue than a true Psionics issue; if it doesn't work here I'll move it.

In my games, I'm using an MP system that was based off of the XPH PP system. Additionally, MP is determined by Mana Dice granted by each level dependent on one's classes and a character's Wisdom modifier (wisdom modifier is added to each roll of a mana die, just like Con and HD). Because of this, all characters have at least one mp per character level.

This was largely done to help multiclass spellcasters, which I want to be more common in my setting than in others. But I'd like to find something for non-casters to be able to do with their MP, aside from the number taking up space on their character sheet.

I do use psionics in my games, though it has been reflavored to be Ki, life energy. This got me thinking on the nature of "ki" feats in my games. With all characters possessing mp, I could easily revert to the old Psionics Handbook system where psionic feats required a reserve of power points to be held to keep a feat active, or required a power point expenditure to activate a feat.

Other than the different classes, and the differentiation between preparation based casters and spontanious casters, there is no mechanical difference between different magic types, so there is little reason to give the "ki" casting Meditants (Psions) and Monks (Psychic Warriors) special access to "ki" feats. My two options for limiting "ki" feats are as follows:
Require one level in Meditant or Monk, or the "Ki Activation" feat, before characters can select "ki" feats. This is essentially the method used in the XPH, except the names have been changed.
Simply put high Wisdom and training requirements on the Ki feats.

Because non-caster MP can actually be decent, I do know that reserve mp ki feats will require the reserve amount to be held separately for each feat. If a character had a feat that required 5 mp to be reserved and another that required 1, they would have to have a total of 6 mp in reserve to keep both feats active. Certain spells can remove character MP (and it is a good way to fatigue or even exhaust non-casters since I use a varient of the vitalizing MP system).

Any ideas or comments?
