I was wondering if replacing the bonus feats granted to Psychic Warriors with the Favored Enemy ability of the ranger's would be a balanced trade off. I have a character idea, but I dont want to outright make a new class, and multi-classing doesnt cut it either. If this isnt balanced, other suggestions to give Psychic Warriors the Favored Enemy abilty would be appreciated.

I think you are losing too much, but if you are willing to do, iI don't see it as a problem.

Favored enemy isn't nearly as useful as the feats. Your DM obviously has the final say, but I'd give you favored enemy, Track, and the combat style in exchange for the feats... and I'd still say it's a tad underpowered. Maybe having 4 + Int skillpoints instead of 2 + Int would finish it out, but then again that may be treading into the realm of Too Much Good Stuff.

That seems like alot for the 8 feats they get. What about Trading them for the Favored Enemy and a Full BAB? Or would that cross the line into too much?

Yes. A Psychic Warrior getting Full BAB is broken.

Given the Psionic feats that the Psychic Warrior can take, this seems like a fine trade off. Favored enemy is very limited. It's great when you can use it, but when you can't, it's basically like not having all of your charcter.

But they aren't limited to psionic feats, they can take fighter feats too. So the feats still seem like too much in balance for the Favored Enemy.

Any suggestions on something else to give them along with FE?

Take away half of the feats in exange... that would be a fair deal, I'd say..

Has anyone looked at this (http://rumkin.com/reference/dnd/download/classconstruction.pdf) ? It's a pdf of a class constructing guide. It seems to be balanced. By the method they use, the point totals for what I suggested seem to work out.

Psychic Warrior
3/4 BAB - 30 cp
Bonus Feats (5/feat x 8) - 40 cp

Ranger
1/1 BAB - 50 cp
Favored Enemy - 15 cp

So thats 65 vs 70 cp's. Looks to work for me, unless you all think that this guide is on more crack than George Lucas when he came up with metaclorients.

That's what I was refering to when I quoted the comment I did, though I was perhaps unclear. Ranger fighting style, FE, and 4 + INT skill points per level.
