I'm getting ready to run a high sorcery campaign in which arcane mages are going to be way more powerful than other classes. (No PC mages are likely.) I was reading the spell point system in the Unearthed Arcana and I liked the system. But I thought that the rule requiring additional spell points to increase the damage done by spells seemed weird and unnecessary--why would such a rule be a good idea? Just wondering whether it is going to break something if I ignore that part of the spell points rule. |

Otherwise, you'd have things like a 10th level caster casting a 10 die fireball for 5 points, vs the same caster casting a 10 die cone of cold for 9 points. Personally, I like the way Psionics and power points are handled much better. |
