They can get you anything from bonus Feats and Natural Armor bonus, to spell-like abilities, to Special Attacks (like Smite Evil) and Special Qualities (like Damage Reduction and Resistance to Energy). However, there're no rules for governing what abilities would be appropriate. So here's my question.

I want to create a Bloodline which is built around Regeneration, but have no idea if it'd be balanced or not. So can I put Regeneration 1 as one of those Special Abilities, and if so, at which level would it be appropriate to take? Thanks for the help.

04-10-04, 07:54 PM I don't have my books with me at the moment, but I believe that there's already a Troll bloodline that can be taken. This bloodline gives regeneration-style bonuses (again, if I remember correctly).

The first thing that you would need to do to create such a bloodline is find a creature that it is based on. The troll is generally the creature that most people think of when they think of a creature with regeneration. Also, it's vaguely humanoid, which (although not strictly necessary) is a bonus when you're talking about creating a humanoid bloodline.

Basically, the examples in the book are decent, and it also tells you what kinds of abilities that you can take and at what level when designing a bloodline. Use them for reference.

04-10-04, 11:55 PM The Troll bloodline does not have regeneration, but it is only an intermediate bloodline. If you raised it to a major bloodline you could likely toss regen in there. I would choose (based on the fey bloodline, where DR is concerned) levels 14 (Regen 1) and 20 (regen 2 or 3).

Other creatures with regen? Hmm, I can't think of too many that do. Most have fast healing instead. I once created a variant vampire bloodline that had FH 1 at level 14 (20 was DR 5/silver and magic). Of course, it was a mixed dragon / vampire bloodline, so .... :smirk:

Okay, I just checked the SRD (3.5) for regen. Here are the results: planatars, solars, most devils, ogre mages, the tarrasque, tendriculous (a plant), and trolls are the only ones listed with regeneration. That suggests either a major troll bloodline or a major devil / solar / planetar bloodline. So, what is your alignment? If chaotic, choose a troll. If evil choose a devil. If good, choose a solar / planetar. Of course, you can also be the rebelling teenager and choose a Troll bloodline while lawful, a devil bloodline while good, etc.
