08-08-06, 01:20 AM 1.) Does the Invest Life Energy ability stop working when you reach level 7? Or do you get +10% XP for the whole game?

2.) About the Invest Skill Ranks ability... A character with an item familiar has 3 ranks in Knowledge: Arcana. However, these three ranks reside in the item familiar. Can he apply the +1 bonus that he gets for having 3 skill ranks invested to Knowledge: Arcana? Or is he unable to do so because those 3 ranks are actually residing in the item familiar?

3.) About the Spell Use ability. The item familiar can cast a spell invested in it as a standard action or longer (depending on the spell). This invested spell is in a spell slot two levels lower than the highest level spell slot the master has. Is ordering the familiar to cast the spell a free action? If so, doesn't this effectively give the master a free quickened spell once per day?

4.) You can improve an item familiar even if you don't have the right item creation feat, but can you improve your item familiar if you don't have the necessary spells? Can a fighter turn his +1 longsword into a +1 holy longsword?

Yes

Lost me now. Those ranks are in the item, for every three you get a bonus of +1. This is all added to your own personnal ranks.

08-10-06, 04:08 PM Thank you very much. I'm playing with a battle sorcerer with +1 adamantine longsword item familiar. So this means that I'm limited to upgrading its enhancement bonus by spending gold and XP; I can't turn it into a +1 unholy adamantine longsword.
