Would it be game breaking to change it so that rage is based off how much you use it? Like normally, a level 1 Barbarian with 1 rage/day would get 7 rounds out of that rage if he chose to. Would it be game breaking to say that he could spread out how much of the rage he used per day? Say 2 rounds in one battle, 3 rounds in another, and the remaining 2 in the third encounter? He would still get the penalties for exiting rage and would still only be able to rage once per encounter. |

I use the PHB2 berserk strength rules as it's more straightforward and I feel fits a bit more thematically with how a barbarian should be played. I will point out that we houseruled that the threshold is (5+con mod) x barbarian level; instead of the straight 5 x barbarian level as printed in the book. Another option might be to steal the Wookie Rage from Star Wars (pre-saga). Wookies could rage 1 per encounter for a number of rounds, but then were fatigued for a like number of rounds after raging. |
