| DragonBringerX06-25-06, 11:05 PM | ok, i had an idea of a ranger and a paladin that didn't get spell-casting, but instead got something different. Now, i used the ranger presented in Iron Kingdoms for reference, but i didnt just copy it. I know they have a varient presented in Comp. War. but i dont like it at all. Ranger bonus feat at 3rd, 8th, 13th, & 18th. favored terrain at 2nd, 9th, & 16th Paladin bonus feat at 2nd, 7th, 12th, & 17th favoried enemy at 4th, 11th, & 18th -limited choices though [undead, ousider evil, chaotic, lawful, abberation, and a few others maybe) Favored Terrain (works just like favored enemy except its +2 on Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Spot, Survival, and Know (nature) dealing with that terrain type. Aquatic :u: Desert :t: Forest :g: Hills :thinks: Marsh :b: Mountain :r: Plains :w: Underground :coolcthul too powerful or is it worth it at all. Should i lower the number of feats or give it something else instead. |

Several good nonspellcaster rangers have been done, like the one in CW and Szatany's Ultimate Ranger (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=169174) |

As for balance, that's hard to say. What exactly is spellcasting worth? Spellcasting is so powerful that few variants are worth the price of losing it. I have seen analyses, both ad hoc and thought out that seemed to say a ranger was better with spells than even several bonus feats. A paladin probably has even better spells than a ranger. |
