However Unearthed Arcanna does not have any combat option variants for the Ranger. So I created a list and want public opinion if these House Rule variant idea's are balanced against the normal ranger combat options? Why only limit Rangers to two combat variants? Aren’t many Rangers in fantasy lore skilled in areas outside of those presented in the Players Handbook? (Two Swords or Bows only?) Here are my Variants for Rangers for my current Campaign. Variant Details that apply to all variant forms. Even if the ranger would not normally qualify for these Feats he may select them. These variant Ranger options are available to the Ranger Class instead of Two Weapon Fighting and Archery. 1st combat option at 2nd 2nd combat option at 6th 3rd combat option at 11th Strong Arm Variant (Little John) 1st Power Attack 2nd Select any Feat that includes power Attack only as a prerequisite 3rd Select any Feat that includes power Attack only as a prerequisite Monk Variant (Daniel Kane) 1st Improved Unarmed Strike 1 d4 Unarmed damage. 2nd Improved Grapple, IUS damage increase from 1d4 to 1 d6 3rd Snatch Arrows, IUS damage increase from 1 d6 to 1 d8 Horseman Variant (Riders of Rohan) 1st Mounted Combat 2nd Ride By Attack 3rd Select any Feat that includes either Mounted Combat or Ride by attack as a prerequisite Dueling Variant (Errol Flynn) 1st Combat Reflexes 2nd Combat Expertise 3rd Select any Feat that includes either Combat Expertise or Combat Reflexes only as a prerequisite Opinions are welcome Flames are not. |
