| GreenKnight04-17-04, 02:30 PM | Bloodline of the Green Knight 1st +2 on Sense Motive checks 2nd Power Attack 3rd Wisdom +1 4th Ancestral Relic 5th Fey affinity +2 (1) 6th Blind-Fight 7th +2 on Diplomacy checks 8th Fog Cloud 1/day (Sp) 9th Strength +1 10th Great Fortitude 11th Fey affinity +4 (1) 12th Double heal rate (Ex) 13th +2 on Knowledge (Nobility & Royalty) checks 14th Regeneration 1 (Ex) (2) 15th Charisma +1 16th Detect Thoughts 1/day (Sp) 17th Fey affinity +6 (1) 18th Improved Critical 19th +2 on Ride checks 20th Regeneration 3 (Ex) (2) 1 You gain the indicated bonus on all Bluff, Diplomacy, Gather Information, Intimidate, and Perform checks made to interact with fey. 2 Bludgeoning damage and acid damage deal normal damage. The idea behind this is that the Green Knight is a scion of a specific family, with the first Green Knight undergoing a magical ritual which altered both him and all his descendants. The Ancestral Relic is the axe handed down from father to son for countless generations. Power Attack and Improved Critical are there to better cut peoples' heads off, with. Like in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, this version of the Green Knight prides himself on being a good judge of character. Hence the bonus to Sense Motive as well as having Detect Thoughts. Great Fortitude, double heal rate, and Regeneration are there to represent the Green Knights incredible regenerative abilities, which even allow him to reattach his severed head (The ritual which granted the original Green Knight his power involved pieces of a Tendriculous used as spell components, hence the vulnerabilities). Fey Affinity is due to the caster behind the ritual either being a Fey or being related to the Fey. And lastly, Blind-Fight and Fog Cloud are there to add a touch of the supernatural to the Green Knight. So how would you rate this Bloodline on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best? |
| Wickerbull04-17-04, 03:22 PM | 4.5. Original, balanced, and pretty worth it. But, why have double heal rate when you have regeneration? It seems kinda redundant, and also that you might be shorting yourself another, more useful ability. I'd swap double heal rate for some illusion 1st lvl spell, like disguise self, to show a stronger connection with fey. But it's your bloodline, so do what you want. |
| GreenKnight04-17-04, 03:29 PM | Well, I figured I might have to ease into Regeneration. It was for that reason you cited, though, that I didn't include Fast Healing, which I was going to put, originally. But yeah, you got a point. Regeneration essentially replaces the double heal rate. And as far as I've seen, there aren't any Bloodlines in which later abilities make previous abilities obsolete. They IMPROVE on them, but don't make them obsolete. I'll go ahead and change that, then. Thanks for the input. |

Took out "Double Heal Rate" and replaced it with "Great Fortitude". In its place I put "Low-Light Vision". A Tendriculous, like other plants, has Low-Light Vision. So how's that? |
| Wickerbull04-17-04, 07:55 PM | That's good. Maybe I'll give you a 4.8, then :D :D |
| Aurotuli04-18-04, 02:57 PM | Very well thought out. I second 4.8. I rather like the versatility of the bloodline idea. Another poster suggested using it for culture (cosmopolitan, high seas, nomadic, etc), with players who are well versed in their culture having a minor culture, those who are epitomes of their culture having an intermediate culture, and those that are paragons of their culture having a major culture. On the same thread we discussed the idea of class flavor (a sorcerer taking on minor Barbarian class flavor - some of the specials, etc but lacking the BAB, Svs, skill points, etc). I've also considered transforming acursed lycanthropes into a Taint (bloodline equivalent) contracted from natural born lycanthropes. I would alter the lycanthrope idea significantly, so I'm still working on how to implement it. Perhaps vampires and other creatures with transformative attacks could be altered in such a manner? All in all, bloodlines were one of the better ideas in the UA. Well done on your creative use of the idea! :tiphat: |
| GreenKnight04-18-04, 04:05 PM | Thanks for the kind compliments, folks. Especially appreciate the hat tipping. :D Now if only the DM I sent it to will agree it's a good Bloodline and allow me to use it. Here's hoping. |
