Ok im gonna throw this one out here for you to chew on.

Ive written a god who is all about manipulation, domination, and forcing people to do what he wants them to do. He is a very evil very bad man. His name is Darien. So I wanted Dariens clerics to have something else other than the standard rebukeing of undead, and heres what I came up with.

A cleric of Darien can rebuke or cammand intelligent humanoids with a character level or ECL lower than his. This works exactly as it does on undead so he can cammand multiple people as long as he makes the rolls to affect them. Anyone he is trying to rebuke/ command that has a charisma score high enough to have a positive modefier may use that modefier as if it were turn resistance.

I know that clerics can normally rebuke/ command 1 creature higher level than they are if they spend all their concentration doing it but i figures i would take that bit away because the ability to control ordinary people is powerful enough as it is.

So give me whatever comments you may have good or bad, I havent dropped this into my game yet, would you?

If you are going to use the same mechanics as undead rebuke/command, then you should note that a cleric can only command undead that have hitdice equal to half his cleric levels.

Is this a domain power, or just an ability of Darien's clerics? Personally, I wouldn't use it as you have it, because I think it is too powerful. Maybe as a prestige class ability?

It wasnt a domain power, it was a trade off. They cant rebuke/ command undead, instead the rebuke/ command intelligent humanoids. I agree it does sound scary. My thinking was that this is a specialized ability to a specialized group of people so maybe it wouldnt be a huge impact on the campaign as a who;e. I can certainly see your point though.

It is definately much more powerful than a mere domain power. I mean, a cleric of Darien would only need 2 levels to be able to destroy townsfolk with a successful turning attempt. Having a 2nd level character being able to terrorize villiages is a little... much.

Also, the reason why you can turn undead has to do with their connection to the negative energy plane. Humans and humanoids are only connected to the prime material plane, so while this may appear similar to turning, the mechanics themselves should be very very different.

I suggest making it a high-level spell that just looks like turning. 6thish depending on how powerful you make it.
