How broken would it be to allow people to roll for the physical ability scores once they've been reincarnated, in order to give it some use as a possible way for druids to bring back their allies and actually make it useful?

I mean, most of the time when a druid reincarnates something, they come back as a creature that doesn't put a whole lot of strain on their capabilites, sure sometimes you get the fighter coming back as a bear and being at least temporarily being unable to use his greatsword, but he does still have some capability to help. However, the fact that he/she comes back with 10s and 11s as the physical ability scores presents a problem, especially if they come back as a goblin. With the low scores they'ld have, it makes it pretty hard to contribute to the battles.

It sounds like you're using a house ruled reincarnation as is, so rerolling physical stats doesn't sound that bad. However, reincarnation as written says you can only come back as the same type of creature (i.e. a human can only return as some sort of humanoid) and they keep their physical stats the same, adjusted for the different race they've become (if any). So a strong human would come back as a strong goblin (albeit with -2 str and +2 dex), but not an average goblin, and never a bear. (unless it's part of your "other" category).

if im playing a human and my stats are

str 16
dex 14
con 13

im reincarnated as an elf
str 16
dex16
con11

AS the spell in the phb works. try using that for a session or so, and then see if you need any houseruling.

What about point buy?

Okay, I haven't had any experience with druids since 3rd edition, and was going on 3rd edition reincarnate, at least for the fact you could come back as a bear or such. I don't know where I got the idea you came back with 10s and 11s for the abilities, but most likely from polymorph and others. Now there is no need for the changes I was thinking about doing.

And Thomar, my group does not use point buy, which is why I left it out.

Yep. 3.5 point buy is now no more powerful than a standard spell of its level.

3.0 reincarnation kinda' kicked ass.

Anyway, re-read it. The SRD is linked in my sig. It's got all da' rules for your easy reference.
