Has anyone used the Reputation or Honor system presented in Unearthed Arcana?

I really like the Reputation theory, have been trying to find a way to incorporate it in an upcoming campaign.

I like the theory, as said, but have been thinking of having the following changes:

Having Rep effected by your Charisma bonus/penalty.

I like having the class system, but a starting amount based on class, not progress by level, but by deed. So my starting rep would be column A = -1, column B = 0, column C = +1, and column D = +2. Column meanings (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/reputation.htm#calculatingReputation) Yes, I know that means Paladins and Bards would be getting the benefit of both Charisma bonuses and starting reputation.

I was thinking of keeping it out of the player's hands, as it'd be my own bookkeeping. I think it adds a little more mystery if say one person rolls a Diplomacy check and gets a 12 and succeeds, yet another person who tries the same rolls a 19 and fails.

I'm also considering a combined rep (group rep) and individual rep idea. Say Sir Garric, the paladin who likes to be high profile is grouped with Kentral, the barbarian who perfers not to be adulated by the public. Garric's personal rep bonus is +8 and Kentral's is a whopping -2. Combined as a team, their rep is +3 [(8 + (-2))/2], Garric helps bring up Kentral's rep, but Kentral drags down Garric's.

I was wondering if anyone had success or extreme frustration with this system. I think it adds a bit, as it adds a dynamic to a dump stat (for most characters) and makes the some of the characters really revel in their fame (or fear it, when the bad guys really start trying to take them down a peg or two).

How about Honor? I have only quickly read through it, it seemed decent, not sure if it would be worth the headaches it looks like it would cause. Although it seems to rise and fall at an interesting rate, to make it fun, I'm still unsure if it might be a "right fit" in my game. Although if you have had success or failure here, let me know.
