Would unclassed monsters have a reputation score?

Probably, but only if the monster is well known somehow, and probably wouldn't have a huge ammount of reputation unless the monster did something tremendously outstanding, like taking on a full royal caravan and killing everyone in it.

A tarrasque may have huge amounts of reputation, if it hasn't been defeated and remains at large, or some other epic type creature.

I shudder at the thought of A Terrasque. Thank the gods that there is only one such beast... and if it ever existed in your world, it should have gobbs of Reputation. ;)

As a DM I would certainly assign monsters reputation depending on how common they are (or infamous). Even generic creatures.

Example: If in your world, everyone has grown up hearing tales of basalisks, give all basalisks a high reputation. This way when the PC's run up against one, they can check to see if they know what it is.
