Just wondering what kind of success, or lack there of, people have had with the sanity rules.
If so how did you treat them, could spells restore it, drugs, and the like.

Also did you make casters roll sanity everytime they cast a spell or learned a new one? I'm thinking I wouldn't do that as it seems kind of unfair to casters and would severly gimp them.

Also would a True Necro character just be doomed in the Sainty rules? Considering thier pension for the nercortic arts, and constant undead.

It depends on the kind of game you're running. If you are running a horror game, sanity = good.

If you are running a high fantasy, action/adventure, or kick-in-the-door style game then no, it isn't a good system.

Yes, yes he would. Even with the rules for diminishing effects of being exposed to the same horror over and over again, he would still be teetering on the edge of insanity all the time. That is why he would be the villain, not the hero.

(Gee, that's odd, a guy who practices evil magic to create abominations unto the notion of life itself wouldn't be the protagonist?)

I'm pretty sure the reason it took you four days to get a reply are as follows:

-This thread has been done to death.
-Most of the things you asked are covered in UA or require very minimal thought on the part of the reader. Things like "Would a guy who's constantly making sanity checks go insane eventually?" are kinda'... well, obvious.

Sanity works best when it replaces alignment, IMO. If you use both, you have to make the call betwen evil or insane constantly and its a big hassle.

I concur. Itīs particularily appropriate for a Lovecraftian campaign, where the human notions of "good" and "evil" are utterly insignificant on a cosmic scale.
