Everyone starts out with max ranks (4 or 2 depending on class or cross-class) in Spot and Listen. As they level, they automatically gain 1 or .5 ranks in those 2 skills (again, depending on class skill or not). Characters can spend more points in these 2 skills using their skill points per level gained but still must abide by the max ranks limited by clvl and/or multiclassing. The automatic increase is to simulate how the character becomes veterans in adventuring and paying enough attentions to their surrounding is a second nature to them. |

| vorpo11-09-07, 11:18 PM | .... but don't they already obtain full ranks doing it this way? Not if they multiclass. See, druids have listen and spot as class skills but wizards don't. A multiclass drd 3/wiz 3 would calculate its max ranks of spot and listen as 3 (drd) + 3 (wiz) +3 = 9 ranks as max ranks. However, since he only gets .5 ranks when he gains wiz levels, he'd only have 3 (drd) + 1.5 (wiz) + 3 = 7.5 ranks automatically. |

| CryoSilver11-13-07, 12:35 AM | But blind characters are SUPER AWESOME. In fact, they've all overcome their blindness so well that it's like they can see, but BETTER. Just like in REAL LIFE. :P I wouldn't use this rule myself, but I will say that my warblade has ranks in Spot, even if they are cross-class. |
