:surrender: I dislike, to an extent, (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=368423)the current hit point and healing system.

I shall describe an alternate healing system here.

:teach:
Natural Recovery of Normal Hit Points

Recovery Roll:
1HD (From the most recently gained class) + Constitution Modifier.
Special: If you are sleeping or resting in complete and total comfort you double the result of you recovery roll.

Concentration (Sleeping): Sleeping allows you to recover normal hit points. If you are distracted or hurt while trying to go to sleep you must make a Concentration check, see DC below. Each race has a minimum duration of sleep, and type of sleep, required to recover normal hit points. After you have slept the amount of time required you can make a recovery roll to recover lethal damage.
Sleeping DC: Base DC (the same for casting a spell) + Damage Taken Total.

Concentration (Resting): Resting allows you to recover subdual hit points. If you are distracted while trying to sleep you must make a Concentration check, see DC below. Resting takes ten minutes of exclusive activity, or one hour of light activity. Successfully resting for the neccessary amount of time allows you to make a recovery roll to recover non-leathal damage.
Resting DC: Base DC (the same for casting a spell)

Heal (comforting): When you comfort an ally they may use your Heal check result in place of their Concentration check to sleep or rest. You can comfort as many as six characters or creatures at a time.

Heal (pampering): When you pamper an ally they may use your Heal check in place of their Concentration check to sleep or rest, and they recieve the benefit of a totally comfortable recovery roll. You can pamper as many as two characters or creatures at a time.

Heal (Administer Medication): Administering medication can be done while comforting or pampering. A successful Heal check DC 15 allows the patient to add their character level to their recovery roll.

Perform: The Perform skill can be used to comfort as many creatures or characters that can observe and appreciate the Performance. See the Heal skill.

BULL'S HEART [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: 1d8 recovery roll or better.
Benefit: Roll 2HD for your recovery roll. The HD of the level you took the feat from and the HD of your current level.
Normal: You only roll 1HD for your recovery roll. The HD of your current level.

ZEN HEALING [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: Concentration 5 ranks.
Benefit: Add your wisdom bonus to your recovery roll.
Normal: You only add your Constitution Modifier to your recovery roll.

Further,
:gah: This system casts a light at the cure mod spell that makes it looks alot more like an amplified skill check instead of conjuring bizzaro "positive" energy. Instead of 1HD its 5HD (of the cleric's type), instead of Constitution its the Cleric's caster level, and instead of hours its seconds, but the systems seem more sown together to me this way.

:thinks: What about that "medication thing"? I think it may be a cuff clipping.

I don't know why you use the HD of the most recent class level. If a Fighter takes a level of Wizard, does he "forget" how to heal as well?

Yes actually, if you dont maintain training you "soften up". The idea being that taking a level in wizard implies an unavoidable amount of excersise sacrificed for study.
